The item was listed as new but I think something heavy was on top of it, as the chassis above the VHS carriage was bowed internally. The first cassette went in with difficulty. It played fine, but then got stuck and would not eject. I managed to wrestle the tape out. I looked inside, could see the bowed frame that the tape was catching on. I took a tool and managed to bend it straight enough so that it would not interfere with the insertion & ejection so it's workable. All's well that ends well.
