Hello, this hitch for the Maxima can cause some confusion. Most customers assume that this particular hitch mounts to the frame rails of the vehicle which most hitches do, but this one does not. If you don't carefully look at the instructions it can cause much frustration. This hitch mounts in between the frame rails and mounts through the trunk pan, not the frame itself. We were hoping to get in touch with you to troubleshoot but so far we haven't been successful at getting a reply from you.
