Money well spent for lesson learnt. The pigtails on genuine Unimat 3 brushes exit off-centre while those on these brushes exit centrally. Furthermore, on removing the "movement-hindering heat shrink sleeving" I found a very amateur soldering job on both spade terminals and one brush even had badly frayed wires (reducing its current carrying capacity by at least half). On top of all that, the ends of the "wear take-up springs" have nowhere to sit unless you file away carbon.
