About this product

Product Information

Explore a fantasy world filled with living gods and an unforgettable adventure in this Nintendo DS game. This handheld follow-up to Capcom's Okami follows the adventures of a young sun god named Chibiterasu. This chibi wolf's goal is to protect the land like his mother did before him. To roam freely across the world, he assumes the guise of a wolf pup. Okamiden is one of the few games based on Japanese culture and mythology. It is a direct sequel to Okami. It is in the third-person perspective, and it is a single-player action adventure game. Okamiden emphasizes puzzle solving, exploration, making friends, and defeating enemies via the stylus. Its North American release date was March 15, 2011. This video game follows the story of Chibiterasu, the son of Amaterasu. It has a gameplay style similar to its predecessor, making it easy to adapt to for new and returning fans. Gameplay in Okamiden involves solving puzzles and interacting with the environment using a celestial brush. The stylus acts as this brush and lets the player paint new objects or structures into the game. The player can also use the stylus to initiate attacks on enemies. Okamiden has a new feature called the Guidance technique. This lets you move Chibiterasu or his partner, Kuni, across places they cannot usually reach. Defeat your enemies using various brush stroke techniques. You can learn these abilities as you move through the game. Many enemies are weak to one type of technique, so you may want to practice until you're perfect. Chibiterasu can also gain more abilities and powers by collecting rare items as you move forward with the story. Players will discover new friends at various points in their journey, such as a swordsman and a mermaid. Other characters include a flute player and a boy who carries fire and is impervious to ice. Each partner possesses unique abilities that can be used to solve puzzles. The children of familiar characters also join Chibiterasu on his adventures as he battles a diverse array of monsters and demons. Nintendo games are usually known for their charm and innovative creative design. Okamiden is no different. As with the first game, the sequel promises yet another magical adventure steeped heavily in Japanese aesthetics and culture. The plot transports Chibiterasu through several points in time, all in an effort to thwart an ancient evil. Some locations from the first game return here in Okamiden, which is sure to delight fans of the series. The game's distinctive visual style and theme, as in the original Okami, draws inspiration from Japanese folklore and scroll paintings. The striking visuals offer a hyper-stylized take on Japanese calligraphy. Complex themes such as friendship, duty, and the love between parents and their children are all main story features in this game. Players will appreciate this memorable experience full of charm and one-of-a-kind humor.
