This necklace is described as rare, old and Aboriginal, and uses "maireener" to describe the shells. Highly prized necklaces made of maireener shells are made by Tasmanian Aboriginal women. This necklace does have maireener shells, threaded on string. But the shells were not collected live and not prepared in the traditional way. It was viewed by an Elder who confirmed it is not authentic. At best the seller was told it is something it's not.
