Seller Notes: “From Australia, this Imperial Japanese Army Officers ‘Tachi’ Type Sword in Pattern 1944 ‘Shin ... “From Australia, this Imperial Japanese Army Officers ‘Tachi’ Type Sword in Pattern 1944 ‘Shin Guntō’ Type 3 Mounts is in excellent original condition. A genuine Second World War Imperial Japanese Army officers sword, this sword is almost certainly a battlefield souvenir from the campaign in the Pacific. This late production Tachi style sword has everything you look for in a wartime Japanese sword; patina, condition, originality and a known maker. It was forged by the smith Yosichika (吉近) in Seki, Gifu Prefecture in October of 1944. Although it has a very good signed blade, this sword is not perfect and displays the characteristic evidence of operational use. However, it’s all the better for it and if like me you prefer the weapons in your collection to display genuine evidence of age and use, this is well worth a look. sword, I have rarely seen a better one. This weeks ‘best on the net’, it’s a ripper.”
