Provided my vin and stated it was pre programmed to my vehicle. Not sure how that works but it went well. Plugged it in and car cranked for the first time. Didn’t start because engine issue, but wasn’t even cranking before.
Much cheaper than buying new from dealership. You’d need to buy the expensive marked up price and get them to programme. With this it’s plug and play. Do recommend

Scott was very knowledgable and ran my OEM number to match PCM, he took my VIN number to insure that the PCM would work out ok......My old car 2008 CTS has never run as well as it does now, it had suffered a lot because of bad PCM.Deering's rebuilt recalibrated PCM worked extremely well for me, highly recommend them and would use them again in the future.
