About 18" of the base gets buried in a sleeve that you cast in concrete. Just know you don's end up with 25ft above the ground. 2 of the 6 pole sections were bent enough that the sections would not swage together. I had to bend some of the pipe edges to get a decent fit. This scratched some of the paint off. Disappointing. The solar light is very subtle. Not a strong/bright light by any means.
