Explore the world of dress design using six models wearing fashions from the past 200 years of American history. Each young girl's ensemble reflects the specific era in which she lived (1774, 1824, 1854, 1864, 1904 and 1944). While choosing dress patterns, colors, accessories, hats, shoes and more, each girl provides facts pertaining to her time period including such items as the types of food, chores, school study subjects and the types of clothing worn.<br><br>Using a point-and-click interface, The American Girls Dress Designer allows you to create and design new outfits, drawing from a large on-CD library of fashion options. Just some of the many features include specific fabrics, patterns, colors and spools of thread, the addition of lace, ribbons and trim, touch ups with buttons and bows and accessories like shoes, hats, flower bouquets and candles.<br><br>Design isn't limited to pre-packaged parameters. Three brushes of varying thickness are provided to allow creation of your own fabric patterns as well as rotation and symmetry tools for unique design changes and looks. There are 24 distinct colors provided for fabric generation for each of the six models. <br><br>The game provides two print options. One is to print out specific paper doll outfits you design for use with any of the six heavy-duty punch out paper dolls that ship with the game and the other allows you to print out your design portfolios for exchange with friends. <br><br>Here's your chance to join Felicity, Josefina, Kirsten, Addy, Samantha and Molly and exercise your fashion creativity with The American Girls Dress Designer and learn a little history at the same time.
