These features are optimized for use with video for Windows technology loaded from these drives. Hobbyists can use any video card from any manufacturer they'd like in order to load AVI or MP4 files off these drives over an SAS interface. It can even work with proprietary Dell technology.Since each ST3450856SS device can connect to any SAS card, you could use it with Supermicro or Dell PowerEdge server trays. If you have an IBM server that supports hot swap connections, then you can swap out your ST3450856SS hard disk when it's unmounted. All Cheetah drives respond to the same unmount commands used by ST3146356SS accessories. This can make it easy to work with a Cheetah drive from an IBM AS/400 interface. Multiuser servers can even let numerous workstations access files stored on a Seagate hard drive through a hard link in their home directories.All of this can be achieved without a drop in performance. Those who need even faster file access for an IBM network might want to connect the SAS jack to their fiber channel system. This can allow enterprise users to search through a large number of files without any issue. Some administrators might even want to consolidate several drives onto just one of these. You can create a partition of 300GB or larger on this hard drive to provide space for files from older drives.
