This Sigma 70 mm-300 mm lens is optimized for digital SLR cameras, offering a design that reduces flare and ghosting and multi-layer lens coating that creates an ideal color balance through the entire zoom range. The f/4.0-5.6 lens has a minimum focusing distance of 59 inches at all zoom settings and features 14 lens elements in 10 groups. The Sigma camera lens for Minolta/Sony is a high-performance lens suitable for portraits, sports photography, nature photography, and other types requiring a telephoto range. The f/4.0-5.6 lens also is capable of macro photography with a 1:2 magnification at the 300 mm focal length. The Sigma 70 mm-300 mm lens features a switch that enables the changeover to macro mode. Without changing the distance between camera and subject on the Sigma camera lens for Minolta/Sony, photographers can change the magnification of the lens. This Sigma camera lens for Minolta/Sony also is equipped with SLD (special low-dispersion) glass in the lens that corrects chromatic aberration.
