Seller Notes: “size approx: 21x15x7cm This is a set of kagura masks for practicing Yamamoto Shachu Edo no Sato ... “size approx: 21x15x7cm This is a set of kagura masks for practicing Yamamoto Shachu Edo no Sato Kagura, which are rarely seen in the market. Yamamoto Shachu's “Edo no Sato Kagura” is said to have been founded by the first Yamamoto Gonryuji Hironobu in 1373 (the 6th year of Oan, the early Muromachi period). It is said that kagura was first performed at the Kuniyasu Shrine near the Yamamoto family. The Kuniyasu Shrine, temporary hall, and shrine building are depicted in “Edo Meisho Zue” (Edo Meisho Zue, published in Tempo 7), and the building depicted as the temporary hall probably functioned as a prayer hall and was used as a place to pray for various events and perform kagura. Since these are a kagura masks that was actually used, it has some signs of use, scratches and stains. Please look at the photos carefully. The item is used and has age-related signs of wear. Please assess the condition based on the photos. Please note: All measurements are displayed in centimeters/millimeters.”
