The barrel is just inside the open end of the holster, and I adjusted it to snap into place with just enough resistance and no binding. Very smooth and robust...the outside the waistband paddle is flexible but is strong and seats firmly under my belt with large, barbed ends to keep it in place. Very good for my open sight 1911 pistol.
