The cover is a soft silicone with a carbon fiber pattern. It looks good and does what I need. The only minor inconvenience is that the design doesn't allow the removal of the inner key piice without removing the cover. However, that's a fairly rare occurance and not something to avoid the fob over. I expext most Mercedes owners don't even know that's possible.
