The dust jacket is in good condition with some wear, tears, and chipping. The original wraparound band displaying reviews is present. Dust jacket condition preserved within new clear plastic non-adhesive protective covering. 'Admiral Lord Mountevans has again and again proved his spirit of adventure, and, as Lieut. E.R.G. R. Evans, he gained personal knowledge of the desolate Antarctic while serving in the Discovery Relief Expeditions of 1902-04, and as second-in-command of Scott's last expedition. In this book he writes a short account of Antarctic explorers from the earliest to modern times (from Captain Cook to Admiral Byrd) and tells of birds and seals, of ice and blizzard, of the Southern LIghts and the discovery of land never before seen by man.”
