This illuminator was described as in working order, and I assumed the pictures of the functioning item were adequate proof. My mistake. The illuminator does not turn on at all. I ended up reverse image searched the listing pics, which I should have done in the first place, and found the listing that these pictures originally belonged to. That one was surplus from the Universidad Industrial de Santander, a university in Columbia. So not a double listing, just straight-up fraud!
