SAMURAI of Japan always had KATANA(sword) till the Edo period. When it became Meiji Era, Japan forbade that people had KATANA. However, even if it became Meiji, KATANA continued being made for a while. This is Fuchi used for the handle of the sword to World War II from the Edo period. The side of this Fuchi has chrysanthemum design. This Fuchi is old ones. This Fuchi has some dirt and some rust. Fuchi Approx Size(cm) a=Long diameter of ellipse (inner dimension) b=Short diameter of ellipse (inner dimension) c=Depth d=Nakagoana(mihaba) e=Nakagoana(kasane) You can see the measurement point in the photo.
