The measurement given was 9" but that includes the tall hook on top (3.5"). The bird cage itself is very small (5"w x 5.5"h). The price was high for such a small bird cage. I was disappointed when I realized I had paid so much for such a small bird cage . I bought it because I was trying to replace one that I had previously owned that had broken and was much larger. It looked very similar to the photo of this one but I had paid much less for it several years ago.
