Nimh batteries have a lower power density than lion and can't be used as a power bank. But have longer life without maintenance. Appearance should be improved and size reduced. SONY made ICR-120 long ago. They can make a mini radio to fit in any emergency kit. See GOOZEEZO Si4732 ATS-20+ Shortwave Radio Receiver and RF75A APP SW Multiband from irrady.com for examples.
