When you try installing something on a 27 year old car light connector, that has been heat cycled and sun baked for 27 years, yeah it might be a bit tight from the heat damage of 27 years. It should fit snug anyway, would you prefer it be loose and disconnect at random so you get pulled over for having a light out or have it short out and go on and off every time you hit a bump?
