The 1963-64 New Mexico Lobos Media Guide states that the 63-64 team could become the best in the history of New Mexico Basketball (see pic 3) How prophetic!!! Bob King's second team, led by Ira Harge, finished 23-6, defeated Kansas, won at Purdue, were WAC Conference Champions, and advanced to the NIT Finals (when that meant something!) before falling to Bradley. They started playing basketball at New Mexico in 1899-00. The 1963-64 team had the most wins (23) in the history of the program. This would not be surpassed until the 1977-78 team won 24 games. UNM has a great basketball tradition. The Pit is truly a pit for opponents. It wasn't always like that. The 1963-64 team was UNM's first great team...Please see first 2 pics for condition of covers....Pages 31/32 and 33/34 have a small portion cut away---but this is far from any pics or text (see Pics 11 and 12)...rest of insides with moderate wear....36 pages....EX”
