This is a moving and at times harrowing film, about men in war cudgelled fighting. It should be more widely known it has scenes of such moving content that it is a corrective of caricatures of people and generalisations about peoples. I have known this film for many decades and it moved me then, and it moves me now . We all learned lessons from the war which it seems the modern generation have neither learned nor cared to learn.
