I had a 3/4 pipe cap and a 3/4 pipe nipple which threaded together easily. Whatever they brazed on for 3/4 which could be aluminum? just doesn't want to thread on very well. Maybe the threads per inch are different than standard pipe. However a little rough is a nice adapter.
