Item was indeed new but rear screw that was supposed to hold model in place on base was literally snapped out of model as though the car was removed from case to photograph it and then the screw was overtightened when the shipper tried to reassemble the car. Also, it was nice that the car came with its own display case, but there were two dark smoky looking spots exactly opposite one another on the clear plastic that did not respond to gentle cleaning.
