The battery compartment contained 6 corroded D batteries. The pieces of corrosion had made their way into the actual device. I had to take the whole thing apart and clean the interior boards. This was to get all the loose pieces out. I had to use alcohol to clean the battery compartment and terminals. I would be good if the description reflected this. I paid a premium price. It does work.
