"Open Box" does not mean "Brand New," but rather "Like New" condition. There is no reason to factory reset the laptop, as it's a clean install with a few Utility apps added for checking battery capacity, getting easy firmware updates, and cloning software for backups (all up which are stated in the Item Description).
