John Baptist Jackson fu uno dei piu importanti incisori del XVIII secolo. Attivo a Venezia fra il 1731 e il 1745, egli realizzo e pubblico un'affascinante serie di chiaroscuri a piu legni attualmente conservati nella Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana: questi "stupendi esemplari" (cosi definiti da Rodolfo Pallucchini) sono oggi esposti grazie a un'accurata campagna di studio e restauro, che illumina aspetti finora inediti della biografia di Jackson e che approfondisce il suo dialogo con l'arte veneta sviluppatasi dal XVI al XVIII secolo, della quale egli fu uno dei piu significativi e originali interpreti a stampa.
