If you are using a rack case w/unthreaded rail holes, such as an SKB, that uses cage nuts, AKA caged nuts or nut retainers, these Middle Atlantic rack screws w/unthreaded pilot points, 3/4" length are the best choice in my experience. The pilot point guides the screw into the cage nut hole and makes it much easier to thread the screw accurately and cleanly, with less occurrence of stripping the thread on the screw or nut. More expensive, but worth it for convenience of time, less frustration.
