One item was definitely new. The other seemed a bit worn and the leather was breaking down on the inside and outside had a small slice. A little leather conditioner was able to rub off the top portion of the leather and seemed to recondition well enough for use. Will be using one of the cases for a custom Newton in process. The other one, since well worn but reconditioned well, will be using for my daily Newton. No need for velcro on the back of the Newton as did apply leather strips which hold.
