Tehunatepec, un'antica città maya, è il regno del grande sacerdote Tatamackly, guardiano della pietre della resurrezione e del tempio della dea Coatlique, crudele madre della terra. Il sacerdote sta portando a termine il sacrifico che riporterà la dea in vita con l'aiuto della strega Xilbabà: giovani fanciulle moriranno per ridare vita alla feroce divinità. Ma le truppe del re irrompono nel tempio fermando il diabolico rituale.
