YEEZY Powerphase Calabasas shoes are the result of an ongoing collaboration between Kanye West and adidas. On March 17, 2018, adidas released the Core Black colorway. Designed with a narrow shape and a streamlined silhouette, these shoes are some of the most understated options from West and adidas.
Design features of the adidas YEEZY Powerphase Calabasas
The YEEZY Powerphase Calabasas features a retro-inspired sneaker design with a low-cut profile. Like the original adidas Powerphase shoes from 1987, this updated take features a split cupsole and perforated toes. The retro design also appears in the subtle three-stripe elements on the quarter panel. Each leather "stripe" is decorated with a row of perforations to keep your feet cool.
Unlike West's other shoe designs, the Powerphase doesn't feature typical Yeezy branding. In fact, the only reference to West is the word "Calabasas," which runs diagonally along the quarter panel. Calabasas is the town in California where West operated a studio and shared a home with Kim Kardashian and their children. The adidas brand name and Trefoil logo mark appear inside the eyestay on the lateral side of each shoe. Flip the shoe over, and you'll find another adidas logo on the outsole.
Materials featured on the Powerphase YEEZY
The first thing you'll notice about the Core Black Calabasas YEEZY is the material— like vintage sneakers, these shoes are made from soft, supple leather. Reinforcements on the eyestay and heel tab add extra protection to high-wear areas.
Inside the collar, light padding keeps you comfortable. A traditional lace-up design pairs with flat laces for a custom fit. The midsoles on the Powerphase Calabasas are made with EVA for cushioning and comfort, and the textured, abrasion-resistant rubber outsoles provide traction.

This colorway of the YEEZY Powerphase is called "Core Black." Each section of the shoe, from the outsole to the lining, comes in black.
