Sun Visors for Scion tC

Scion tC Sun Visors

When you find yourself driving in the glaring sunlight, you may find it difficult to see. All vehicles, including the Scion tC coupe, are outfitted with sun visors to help reduce the glare. If you find you need to replace these parts, you will find many different types of screens available.

What types of tC visors are available?

There are three main types of screens that you can choose from for your Scion tC:

  • No mirror: These visors are just a simple flap that you can pull down to cover your eyes against the sun while driving. They do not come with mirrors or lights. They come in a variety of materials to match your Scion tCs interior, including leather, cloth, or vinyl.
  • Non-illuminated: These screens may have a mirror hidden under a flap. However, they do not have the wiring or magnets to make the mirror light up. They can also come in the same materials as the visors that do not have mirrors.
  • Illuminated: These screens come with mirrors and lights on either side to add illumination. They are often wired to connect to your tCs battery or alternator to give them power. Some other powered screens may have special magnets that give them the energy they need to light up.
What features are there for sun visors?

In addition to mirrors and lights, some screens have additional features that may make driving safer for you and your family. These other features may include:

  • Extended shade: These visors have an additional coverage that can be pulled down.
  • Sliding piece: This option allows you to slide a second, smaller screen out from the main shade. This way, the part can cover more areas of your Scions windshield depending on where the sun is located.
  • Extended arm: This mounting arm lets you pull the sun screen out further than the regular arm extends.
  • Home link: This feature connects to your garage. You can open or close your garage from your visor without having to have any additional devices.
What are the differences between OEM and aftermarket sun visors?

When you are looking for visors, you may see parts that have and do not have the OEM label. Although both types of screens work well, there are some slight differences between the two:

  • OEM: OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer. Essentially, a part that has the OEM label on it was made by the independent company that was responsible for making that part for the Scion manufacturer. OEM parts are made to the specifications of the Scion manufacturer. While these screens may come in different packaging and with or without the original Scion logo, they are the exact same part that originally came with the tC.
  • Aftermarket: These sun visors were made by companies that were not involved in making the original parts. This means that these parts may come with different specifications and different features that were not originally available. If you have specific needs that are not met by an OEM sun visor, an aftermarket part may have exactly what you are looking for.
