Nike Revolution 4 Black Shoe

The Nike Revolution 4 sneaker is one in a long line of men’s running shoes designed to put the spring back in your running step.

When were the first Nike men’s running shoes made?

Nike’s very first running shoes were given to Olympic hopefuls in 1972, and with feedback from them, the Nike Cortez was developed. It had the waffle-pattern sole with a nylon and suede upper. For the Honolulu Marathon in 1978, the Nike Tailwind sneaker was released in limited quantities. This was the first Nike running shoe to contain the Nike Air technology. This technology used pressurized air within polyurethane sacks, which allowed the shoes to offer plush cushioning while remaining lightweight. The Nike Revolution series uses Phylon in the midsole to maintain responsiveness while staying lightweight with a low-profile.

What is the style of these Nike Revolution 4 sneakers?

The Nike Revolution 4 might be called “dad shoes” in some markets, but they have sleek lines and simple design features that make these sneakers versatile for a variety of activities. These mesh running shoes could easily be paired with jeans for a night out or even worn for casual days at work.

What sizes are available in the Nike Revolution 4?

The Nike Revolution 4 men’s tennis shoes are available in sizes 6-15. They are also available in normal and wide running shoes — one of the few types of Nike shoes that offers the choice. These mesh running shoes fit true to size and width. The mesh material is unlikely to stretch significantly over time, so order your regular size. For additional sizing information, please see the manufacturer’s site.

What are some features of the Nike Revolution 4?

The Revolution 4 are minimalistic running shoes with few design features. They offer a single-layer no-sew wide-knit open mesh upper which allows for breathability. Midfoot, the mesh becomes more tight-knit and wraps around the heel to provide a supportive, snug fit. Synthetic overlays on the saddle provide extra support on the in-step. The outsoles have large rubber pods on the heels and the balls of the feet. These pods have flex grooves that perform in a similar fashion as pistons, flattening on impact and springing back at push-off. A few other features include:

  • Cushioned heel counter and tongue
  • EVA-molded midsole
  • Spacious toe box
  • Low-profile style and design
  • Nike Swoosh logo on sides
