MEINL Bongos
MEINL provides a variety of different bongos and hardware for different percussion music purposes. The drums come in several different series and with a range of different colors, heads, and hardware. The bongos offered come in different sizes and vary in the sounds that they produce.
What materials are the drums made out of?Bongos feature different buffalo heads and shells made from a variety of different materials. Some of the drums, such as the Headliner Series Bongos, feature plastic shells with buffalo heads. Other selections of drums, such as the Percussion HB100WRB Headliner Series have shells made from wood designed for different sounds than plastic. The wood design is for durability and for the percussion to have acoustic sound properties. In addition to wood and plastic, select products have shells made of other materials. For example, the Headliner Series also features a selection with a clear, acrylic shell designed to create a different percussion sound pitch. Shell materials vary by individual model.
What visual styles are offered for the bongos?Visual styles vary between models. Drum tops come in both white and tan, varying between individual products. Shell styles feature different finishes and color options. Some bongos, such as the Radial 5-Ply Wood drums feature gloss finishes. Several bongos from the Headliner series are different colors and have different finishes. One set of drums comes in light brown with a natural finish. Some of the drums offered also feature multiple colors. For example, the HB100VWB-M Headliner comes in a sunburst design, featuring a black top and bottom that fade into a light brown/orange middle. Other bongo colors offered include, black, red, and walnut. Shells are encased in holders that are either black or silver, depending on the specific product being examined. Some of the cases feature black holders and silver rods to connect the top and bottom holder for the drums.
What sizes do the MEINL bongos come in?The drums offered come in several different sizes, varying between individual bongos. Several of the drums offered, such as the Percussion HB100WRB and the Free Ride Designer Series, feature one 6.75-inch drum and another 8-inch drum. Another size choice for percussion is available with the Free Ride Woodcraft Bongos, which features one 7-inch head and one 9-inch head. Sizing is contingent upon the individual model offered. Not all bongos for each series come in every available size or color.
