Most LCD screens are listed with the name of the computer they're designed for in the product description, but you may have to do some more digging to get the answers you need. In some cases, it may be necessary to remove the LCD screen and take a look at the model number that is listed on the back of the display.

How do you replace an HP Pavilion LCD screen?

After you've found a display that will replace the screen currently installed in your laptop, it will be time to remove your cracked, broken, or otherwise inoperable screen and replace your display. To complete this task, you'll need to make your way through the following steps:

  • Step 1: With the laptop shut off, turn it over and remove the battery.
  • Step 2: Use a small knife or another flat-bladed object to remove the rubber coverings at each corner of the screen.
  • Step 3: Remove the screws that are found beneath the coverings, and insert a credit card or a similar flat object between the laptop screen and the faceplate.
  • Step 4: Make your way around the screen and disengage the clips holding the faceplate in place. Remove the faceplate.
  • Step 5: Remove the screws at the top and bottom of the screen and allow the screen to fall away from the laptop.
  • Step 6: Remove the wire ribbons from the bottom of the screen and discard the laptop screen.
  • Step 7: Connect the wire ribbons to the replacement laptop screen and reverse steps one through five to secure the part into your laptop.
  • Step 8: Boot up your computer and ensure that the installation process has been a success.
