Are the roads and trails in Garmin Topo 24K accurate?The 24K series maps utilize NAVTEQ road data, which is even more accurate and up-to-date than the TIGER data used by other GPS map units. Because the Topo 24K maps are routable, you can even set waypoints and use your Garmin GPS to give you dynamic directions.
How much detail is used in the Topo 24K maps?The Topo 24K maps are designed to give you more detail in both distance and terrain contours. These detailed maps include elevations, summits, coastlines, geographical POI's, and routable trails and dirt roads. There are six different Topo 24Ks to choose from:
- Topo US 24K North Central:The North Central map covers the states north of Nebraska from Idaho to Iowa and Minnesota.
- Topo US 24K Northeast:Northeast coverage includes the states north of Maryland and nearly every state from Wisconsin and Illinois to the east coast.
- Topo US 24K South Central:South Central coverage includes Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and all of Texas.
- Topo US 24K Southeast:The Southeast map covers every state south of West Virginia to Florida and as far west as Louisiana. It also covers Puerto Rico as well.
- Topo US 24K Southwest and West:Southwest covers Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico while West covers the west coastal states as well as Nevada and Hawaii.
If you load the Garmin Topo 24K maps into your Garmin handheld, you can route trails. Users can create point-to-point routes using these maps with their Garmin devices. When you buy the Topo 24K maps, they are not single-license, so you can load them onto as many of your devices as you desire. This means that you can route trails on one device and move it to another device at any time. If you ever upgrade, you can keep all of your routed trails saved.
Can these maps be used on Garmin devices?In order to use the Garmin Topo 24K downloads and cards, your GPS device needs to have a microSD or SD card slot.
