Animal Crossing Video Gaming Playing Cards

Finding Animal Crossing Playing Cards

A casual, fun game created by Nintendo, Animal Crossing also has a series of playing cards one can use for various purposes, whether to play with as one would a traditional deck of playing cards, to keep as a collector's item, or to play a fun board game using Animal Crossing characters.

What is Animal Crossing?

Animal Crossing is a video game series developed and published by Nintendo. In it, your character, a human, lives in a village full of anthropomorphic animals and must pay off various debts from Tom Nook, a raccoon who builds your house when you arrive. While the game is generally open-ended, there are quite a few things to do:

  • Fishing and bug catching: wherein you can buy a fishing rod and a bug net and capture rare fish and bugs around the town. Because the game is time sensitive, different bugs and fish appear during different parts of the day and season.
  • Fossil hunting: You can dig up random fossils, which you can then donate to your village's museum.
  • Make friends: Throughout the game, many animals will move in and out of the village, and you can make friends with all or some of them. They can offer advice, give various gifts, ask for items, and send you random letters. If you become close, you can also convince them not to move away.

What are the Different Types of Cards?

There are actually two different kinds of cards to play with. One is a traditional deck of playing cards, while the other acts as a trading card that you can use with the game.

  • Playing Cards: This was merchandise exclusive to Club Nintendo to promote the 2005 Animal Crossing: Wild World. The deck consists of 52 standard playing cards, but each card has a character from the game instead of the usual designs. There was another Japanese exclusive deck released to promote Animal Crossing: City Folk.
  • Amiibo Cards: These cards have come out alongside the popularity of the Amiibo figurines. However, these cards can be used to play new games in the Animal Crossing world, and they open up multiplayer options. Like the playing cards, each card has a corresponding character, but it also has a corresponding die number and an open hand, peace sign, or closed fist symbol to the right of the character.
