The Braun ThermoScan® is an accurate infrared heated ear thermometer. It has been carefully developed for accurate, safe and fast temperature measurements in the ear. The shape of the thermometer prevents it from being inserted too far into the ear canal to hurt the eardrum. It measures the infrared heat generated by the eardrum and surrounding tissues. To avoid gross temperature differences, the sensor itself is brought to a temperature close to that of the human body.

With Pre-warmed tip
Unlike other ear thermometers, Braun ThermoScan ExacTemp features a pre-warmed tip that minimizes the cooling effect that could result from the introduction of a cool probe tip. The pre-warmed tip helps ensure accuracy measurement after measurement.

Without Pre-warmed tip
A conventional tip at room temperature has a cooling effect on the ear canal. This cool-down effect might result in an inaccurate temperature reading being shown on the display. A cooler temperature in the ear canal could also affect the accuracy of repeated measurements.

Why measuring in the ear?
The ear is an excellent site to measure temperature. Braun ThermoScan measures the infrared heat generated by the eardrum and the surrounding tissues. The eardrum shares blood supply with the temperature control center in the brain. Therefore temperature changes are reflected more quickly and accurately than at other sites.
