Purchased at a Antique sale in USA 

From the Congo region of Africa

Very thick and heavy, narrow opening

Etched designs and looped ends

Not really wearable, very heavy and small diameter

Perfect display piece for your antique and vintage jewelry display!

 African bracelets where pre-coinage monies and where used for exchanges, storage of wealth, a standard of value and for the display of wealth. Stacking bracelets from Africa consists of both drawn and hammered specimens made of brass. These bracelets are normally plain but can also exhibit etched designs and are always flattened on at least one side and sometimes are flattened on both sides. Huge bracelets, armbands and anklets whose immense size actually impeded the wearers movement where the most valuable and where the largest shows of wealth.
